News culture This John Wick-inspired action movie will finally have a sequel: the big villain is a big star of the 90s
In 2021, we had the pleasure of seeing Bob Odenkirk in a role very different from the one he usually takes on: Nobody liked it… and now we have concrete news about a sequel.
I’m nobody
We can safely say that Bob Odenkirk is one of the most important faces in the film landscape: he has risen to the top thanks to his role as Saul Goodman’s corrupt lawyer in “Breaking Bad” and especially in “Better Call Saul”, where his character and his acting are the focus. Zoomed in: The actor now has a solid career. And in 2021 he headlined Nobody, a powerful action film in which he played a discreet family man who was in reality an extremely efficient government agent.
By “ultra-effective” I mean that he knows how to use his abilities to destroy anyone who comes near him with his bare hands, bladed weapons or firearms. And that’s exactly what happens when he is pursued by a group of dangerous soldiers, even though he claims to be just an “everyman.”
Even if the tone seems quite classic for a film of this genre (it is also signed by the screenwriter of John Wick), Nobody nevertheless stood out as a good surprise, known for its staging and the effectiveness of its scenes. The audience appreciates it – on Allociné the average viewer is 3.7 out of 5 stars and on Metacritic 7.6 out of 10 – and has repaid it well $57.21 million at the box office… against a production budget of $16 million.
Nobody comes back
Given this success, the production confirmed this Nobody 2 was now a reality : We even set a release date until 13 August 2025 in France. The film is directed by Timo TjahjantoFilmmaker accustomed to horrific experiences and behind feature films such as The Night Comes For Us, V/H/S 94 or Macabre.
Not surprisingly, Bob Odenkirk will once again play the title role and his counterpartwe know that Sharon Stone will play the big villain. A good casting, then, since the latter is one of the most famous actresses in the film landscape: we have seen her in a number of films, including “Casino”, “Basic Instinct”, “Dead or Alive”, “Total Recall” and many others.
From now on, all you have to do is wait for a first trailer: Filming for Nobody 2 will begin in August 2024. So we still have time to see it.
