There is a basic mystery to solve in Pokémon which is to know who is the father of Ask Ketchum and theories are handled that even speak of Mr. Mime as the father of the protagonist of the anime. What we do know is that both games like anime there is a lack of that "father figure" that many fans and not so fans have insisted on pointing Y throsno on Reddit try to answer this with a theory.
The few parents that appear in the franchise, they are quite distant and absent, being only mentioned as those who have given you something or are "relegated" to their daily work. Despite this lack, none of the protagonists of the anime or games is too concerned about this situation. When a father gets very involved with his children he is considered as a special and very generous being, but if it does not, it is not taken into account, since the underlying culture has assimilated the absence of the father figure (especially if the boy or girl comes from a family of Pokémon Trainers).
It could be assumed that parents are those figure to emulate in the distance, that they have forged a path that the children would like to follow and that, for this reason, they have not had contact with the parenting, nor are they expected to do such a thing. So these parents would be figures distant and benevolent who encourage their offspring to follow their own path and to seek their own success.
It is not difficult to relate the traditional role of parents in our world with what happens in the Pokémon world, since it was the status-quo until recently and, although more and more men are deeply involved in their family unit, it is still something that falls on the hands of women, without damaging the "image" you have from the father. We do not know the reason for this decision in the anime and Pokémon games, but we assume that it was wanted bring out a more generic reality that imitates reality, without thereby wanting to say or criticize anything concrete. And tell us, What is your opinion on this whole matter?
