Yakuza devient like a dragon
During a State of Play broadcast on September 14, SEGA announced a new game that is part of the universe of the Like A Dragon series entitled Ishin. It’s more than a new episode, it’s actually a remake of a spin-off that released on PS3
Given his success The Like a Dragon franchise is now split into two distinct branches. First of all we have the main series that will feature turn-based role-playing experiencesas we saw for the first time in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, technically the seventh episode of the license and that we will find with Yakuza 8 in 2024. On the other hand, We have the branch that maintains the action aspect that the franchise has offered since its inception until the release of Like a Dragon. In it we can place the spin-off series made up of Judgment and Lost Judgment, but also Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. As the name suggests, this is an action game addendum with more limited ambitions, in which we’ll play as Kiryu Kazuma, the historical hero of the saga, to find out what happened to him between the sixth and eighth episodes.
An adventure at the end of the Edo era
With all of this Like a dragon: Ishin! thus belongs to the branch of action spinoffs, with the special feature that it is not set in our present time, but in the Bakumatsu era, i.e. in the second half of the 19th century in Japan. So if the series had accustomed us to fight with our bare hands, here we defend ourselves with katana and pistol in this great historical adventure. The other originality of this experience is that we’ll find the faces of well-known characters from the series, such as Kiryu and his rival Majima.
But like in every Like a Dragon game, The action is not everything, since we have the right to many small additional activities that abound in the open world that we can explore. That’s a good thing, because that’s exactly the aspect of the experience that the new trailer, which you can find at the top of the page, highlights. Harvesting vegetables, cooking or caring for animals, Ishin offers all kinds of secondary content typical of games in the franchise. Because if the titles Like a Dragon give the impression of having a serious tone in their main plot, The whole appendix part is often an opportunity for the developers to highlight the wacky side of the adventure with bizarre quests. In any case, we just have to wait to get our hands on Like a Dragon: Ishin! which is scheduled for February 21st on PS5, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC.
