Google Stadia is criticized, among other things, for its currently small number of games. Google now wants to solve the problem with a new studio in Playa Vista, California. That will fully affect the development of Exclusive titles for the streaming service focus.
The studio is headed by Shannon Studstill, who previously worked on the God of War series at Sony in Santa Monica and was responsible for the latest part of 2018 as executive producer. The team is still under construction. Job postings for the remaining roles can be found at Google Careers.
»Your own twist«: The games of Stadia Games and Entertainment Studios are designed to take full advantage of the platform and thus integrate their own special features. Google has not yet announced exactly how these will look like in the announcement. However, you probably want to focus on new opportunities and interact with other people.
Not the first exclusive titles
Some games have already been announced in the past and will be available exclusively at Stadia at least temporarily. A total of ten are due to appear by July 2020. Not all of these games have been revealed yet.
So far it is known that the following titles will be published as part of »First on Stadia«:
- Lost Words: Beyond the Page
- Panzer Dragoon
- Serious Sam Collection
- Spitlings
- Stacks on Stacks on Stacks
- Orcs Must Die 3
As with Epic Games, exclusivity should last a year. After that, developers and publishers are free to publish the games on other platforms. The titles of Google's own studio, however, are expected to be permanently linked to Stadia.
In addition to the exclusive titles, 120 multiplatform games will also be released for Stadia in 2020. However, there is no complete list of what that will be.
