renew: Ubisoft announced that it will postpone the plan of some old games offline to October 1st. The company also said that Anno 2070 will no longer be offline.
The company initially said the cancellation of the online service would affect 15 games, meaning there would no longer be access to online features, DLC and multiplayer modes.
Now, according to Ubisoft, single-player DLC for several games on PC — Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed III (2012 Edition), Far Cry 3, and Splinter Cell Blacklist — will be available for download by October 1st and keep it. If you own these games on PC, activate your DLC before retiring to keep playing it. The same single-player DLC on c onsoles won’t be affected in any way, and you’ll continue to be able to download and play them after October 1st.
With Anno, Ubisoft Mainz still has an active gaming team working on Anno, and a working group working on deploying an update for Anno 2070 to upgrade the game and replace its old online service. This will allow you to enjoy its online features in the future.
Space Junkies will continue to retire on September 1 as planned.
The original story is as follows.
You may recall an article from Ubisoft a few months ago that suggested it would retire online services for several games on September 1st.
Well, that time has come, and it’s a day before these 15 Ubisoft games go offline forever. In the grand world of video games, we know very well that nothing lasts forever. Even, really, we should be talking about video game saves more often.
Today is the last day online multiplayer will be available across 15 games, and the last day you can play any DLC you own – multiplayer or not. One example pointed out by one Reddit user is that those who purchased the 2012 Assassin’s Creed 3 expansion pack will not be able to access the DLC without purchasing the game remake, and those who have the Splinter Cell Blacklist cosmetic will not be able to use it they.
That being said, Ubisoft did provide a statement to IGN, saying “Only DLC and online features will be affected by the impending retirement. Current owners of these games can still access, play or redownload them. Our team is working with Our partners are working together to update this information on all storefronts and are evaluating all options available to players who will be affected when online services for these games are discontinued on September 1, 2022. We always intend to do everything we can to allow these Legacy offers players titles in the best possible terms, and that’s what we’re working towards.”
Many of the affected games are less than ten years old, and those that have been around longer are not old either. Games with discontinued online services and DLC are listed below!
- Anno 2070
- Assassin’s Creed II
- Assassin’s Creed III (2012) – The remake of the game will not be affected.
- Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
- Assassin’s Creed LiberationHD
- Assassin’s Creed Revelations
- san francisco driver
- Far Cry 3 (2012) – The remake of the game will not be affected.
- ghost action futuristic warrior
- Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Desert
- lehman legend

Space Junkies is the newest of all games and has only just come out in 2019. The insistence of this particular title is that it’s a multiplayer game, which means that after tomorrow, the game will be largely unplayable.
It’s certainly weird to see a game from ten years ago being treated this way, it sucks for anyone interested in the games on this list, already paying for DLC, or just spending hours earning them Items that will now be unusable. There are a few things to learn from Ubisoft’s deactivation of online services for these games; mainly that nothing lasts forever, but there also needs to be something to protect the game from these outcomes. Not just for players, but for the developers who work tirelessly on these games.
