Continuing to grow, Unity announced today a new acquisition. This is the Bolt, a toolbox dedicated to visual scripts belonging to the company Ludiq.
Offering a huge database in which we find textures, models, animations and tutorials, the Bolt solution now belongs to Unity in exchange for an unknown amount. Developers can however be reassured, version 1 will continue to be supported in parallel with the development of Bolt 2. Ludiq, now relieved of its middleware, takes the opportunity to declare:
This acquisition will give Unity developers around the world a production-ready visual creation tool that helps artists, designers and programmers collaborate on their game or application. Thanks to Unity's involvement, Bolt will benefit from a wealth of resources and experience in the development of middleware (…)
Today, passing the torch to Unity means that Bolt will enter an exciting new phase in his life. While it's never easy to abandon a project you love, I've met some amazing people at Unity who will pursue it, and I'm confident Bolt is in good hands, declared
Lazlo Bonin, CEO of Ludiq.
For those who were already using Bolt, a voucher will be sent to them to activate it from the Unity Asset Store. For players, the consequences of this takeover will be difficult to detect, but in reality, Unity is expanding its creative possibilities.
