Valorant reveals new Agent Gekko and his adorable abilities

Valorant revealed its newest Agent to add to its hero roster, and it’s gecko. Gekko from Los Angeles is the latest starter of the tactical shooter, and he has a lovely set of abilities to show off in the game.

Check out Gekko and company here. We even get a glimpse of Reyna’s softer side.

Like Skye’s animal-infused abilities, which saw her use Tasmanian tigers and eagles to gain an advantage in the game, Gekko’s abilities also have some unique creatures that I can’t wait to see.

Gekko’s abilities presented unique challenges during development because they had an “additional standard in the mix”; “each ability is also one of Gekko’s companions, their own character,” says Valorant narrative writer Joe Killeen.

Each ability quickly becomes a nickname for a creature at the same time, and we have it. Gekko’s abilities, along with his sidekicks, named Dizzy, Wingman, Thrash, and Mosh, look downright adorable in the Gekko launch trailer embedded above.

Gekko’s adorable abilities are as follows:

Fire to send Dizzy out to find enemies. They charge at enemies within sight and fire a plasma blast that blinds enemies hit.

When Dizzy ends, she goes dormant again. Interact with her to reclaim, and re-use Dizzy after a short cooldown.

Launch Wingman out to find enemies. Wingman uses the shockwave on the first enemy he sees.

Use secondary fire while aiming at the spike point to have the Wingman implant the spike; the Gekko must have the spike with him for it to work. Alternatively, use alt fire while aiming at the buried spike to have Dizzy dismantle it.

When Wingman expires, they go dormant. Interact with it to restore abilities, and use it again after a short cooldown.

Fire and throw Mosh like a grenade.

Secondary torched Mosh like a grenade, low hand.

When Mosh lands, they replicate in a large area and explode after a short delay.

Fire up Thrash and use her like Skye’s Pathfinder ability. Maneuver Thrash through an area, and activate Trash to send them forward toward enemies. They explode and trap any captured enemies within a small radius.

Once expired, retrieve Dormant Thrash to re-use the ability after a short cooldown.

I recently returned to Valorant after a few months away from the game, and while I’ve had a love-hate relationship with the most recent map, Lotus, Gekko looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Putting it this way, I think we’re going to see Gekko pick a lot more than recent Agents, and Harbor has always been, anyway.

Gekko will join Valorant’s roster of agents when Chapter 6, Chapter 2 launches on March 7.
