Coffee Stain and Iron Gate Announce Viking Survival Game Valheim Coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in Spring 2023. It’s also coming to Xbox Game Pass.
The game will also appear in Xbox’s PC Game Pass catalog, and will be released on the Microsoft Store this fall.
The news was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase Extended.
Both the upcoming Microsoft Store and Xbox console versions will feature full cross-play support at launch, allowing you to play with friends on Steam, Microsoft Store or Xbox.
Developers Piktiv and Fishlabs will lead development on the Microsoft Store version and the upcoming 2023 Xbox, which will allow Iron Gate to continue developing the core Valheim experience and its upcoming content.
The news comes after the Q3 release announcement for the Mistlands biome.
Since launching in Early Access on Steam, the game has sold 10 million copies in just over a year, with a peak player count of 502,000.
“We’re really excited to see the world of Valheim and our amazing community open up to more people and have our PC Vikings team up with their Console Shield siblings in the near future,” said co-founder Henrik Tornqvist iron gate.
“None of this would have been possible without the incredible teams at Piktiv and Fishlabs continuing to work tirelessly on the Microsoft Store and Xbox ports, allowing us to focus on the Mistlands update and our exciting Early Access journey.”
“Since launch, we’ve always wanted to make Valheim accessible to as many people as possible – no matter what platform they’re playing on – and it’s been great to see everyone’s hard work paying off in these Microsoft and Xbox announcements. Satisfied,” said Albert Safstrmm, Vice President of Publishing at Coffee Stain.
With Piktiv and Fishlabs backing these efforts, and the Iron Gate team thriving with our next major update of the year, we’re excited to open the doors of Valheim 2023 to PC Game Pass users as well as Xbox players as soon as possible. “
Valheim is available on Steam Early Access for PC and Linux.
