Warframe has been a fixture among live service titles for almost eleven years and now another platform is to be conquered, as the third-person shooter will soon also be available as a mobile version.
Warframe has been making the online world unsafe for almost eleven years and apparently with success, otherwise developer Digital Extremes would hardly put so much work into the game and keep releasing new content and expansions. Now the game is coming to another platform.
As the studio announced, Warframe will also be available for Apple devices, i.e. iOS, on February 20th, tomorrow. The introduction of cross-save and cross-play, which was recently completed on PC and console, seems to have been the decisive kickstart for this, as both features are also supported by the iOS version.
The announcement states: “Continue your unique Warframe journey anywhere, with anyone, using full Cross Platform Save functionality. Whether you’re an active veteran looking to join your squadmates on the go, or a brand new one Visitors to the Origin system, you will also be connected to Tenno’s vast Warframe community with the existing Cross Platform Play feature that unites everyone across all platforms.”
It will be very interesting to see how well the iOS version works, because Warframe is now a real monster with numerous levels, but also open worlds and countless game modes. Will this give another boost? Warframe has been seeing increasing player numbers again for a few months, which may well be due to the weaknesses of Destiny 2, whose last expansion disappointed many fans. Exact numbers are not known, but Warframe is said to have over 40 million registered players.
