Caught the phrase “hotkey” and don’t know what it means? We’ll tell you what’s behind it and how you use it.
That means hotkey: key combination, shortcut
The term “hotkey” comes from English and literally means “hot key”. In general, however, the term is used in the sense of “shortcut”. A “hot key” is understood in EDP/computer language as a key combination with which a command is sent to a program.
This is how a hotkey works
“Hotkeys” are a kind of abbreviation for commands that you want to give to the PC or a specific program. This requires the simultaneous or sequential pressing of multiple keys—in the correct order—as in qq, which are programmed to perform a command or a specific task in a software application. This includes the special keys, such as Alt + F4.

Hotkey-Standard
There is no universal standard of “hotkeys” in the computing world. Operating systems and keyboards don’t always set their “hotkeys” the same way. But some simple key combinations are generally the same or at least similar, such as the Shift key for capital letters or Ctrl/cmd + S for save.
Hotkeys while gambling
Just as every program has its own shortcuts, “hotkeys” are especially important in gaming. Almost everything in the game is controlled via the keyboard here, or at least there is the possibility of setting up a “hotkey” for almost every action. Many games, especially if they conform to a format (RPGs or RTSs), use similar combinations to control the character, for example.
