Once Human It’s finally out, and it’s a blast. Less than a day since its release, and despite mixed reviews in the store, the game is already approaching 100,000 concurrent users on Steam. Could this be the next Steam survival hit? These numbers certainly add value to that argument!
According to SteamDB, a site that tracks Steam player counts, the game has around 75,000 players at the time of writing, with a 24-hour peak of 82,092. The game also seems to be gaining traction on Twitch, with a peak of 155,333 viewers. Not bad for a popular game that didn’t have a lot of hype before its release.

As for the hurdles Once Human needs to overcome, the game currently has mixed reviews on Steam due to technical issues, complaints about in-game character unlocks and servers, and privacy concerns. Those privacy issues have to do with the potential requirement for players to show a government ID, along with the caveat that it will be “subject to age verification and correction of personal information as required by applicable law.” This concern is likely an artificial one—some people have read the game’s terms of service carefully and found nothing to worry about. This statement seems to apply to people living in countries like South Korea where such laws exist, rather than those in the US or UK.
Assuming the game can address these issues with hotfixes or patches, Once Human’s long-term success depends on momentum and support. Filling in the game’s flaws and providing more content for fans who are keen on the game. Still, some games have had a rocky start, so Once Human may be worth keeping an eye on.
