Astronauts releases first feature content update for its dark fantasy first-person shooter Witch firecurrently in early access on the Epic Games Store.
The Ghost Ship update includes a ton of new content, including player classes, enemies, new events, weapons, and spells, and it also comes with shop vendors offering interesting items.
The update was originally slated to release last week, and its name refers to the Cataclysm event, a ghost ship filled with the Witch’s demon minions.
In addition to the new features provided in the patch, Witchfire’s level progression and disaster system have also been redesigned based on feedback from Early Access. You’ll start the game in a Souls-style class, leveling up certain stats and gear. These classes include Berserker, Hunter, Saint, Slayer, Shadow, and Penitent, a final class for those looking for an extra challenge.

A new feature called Gnosis will allow you to level up slightly without a corresponding increase in enemy difficulty. Gnosis is the understanding of dark magic, and as you expand this arcane knowledge, you will gain power and discover hidden paths and events. A separate entity that you can level up in a special new location, there are ten levels of Gnosis to obtain, each level requires a multiple-choice requirement to unlock, and for each level, you gain a Witch’s Fire multiplier.
This update also adds a disaster meter to the HUD, which will alert you to actions and mistakes that make disaster more likely. While fatal disaster will still arrive as a penalty for missteps, it will be clear how your actions trigger it thanks to the new meter.
To recap, the Ghost Ship update includes three new disasters, Sanctuary raids, six new classes, five new weapons, four new spells, four redesigned spells, a new shop vendor, seven new Magic items such as fetishes, rings and relics, ten new magic items. New or mutated enemies, five new events, six new traps, redesigned disasters, and Gnostic lore and level progression. You can also expect some quality of life updates, bug fixes, and more.
