World of Warcraft has so far been firmly in the hands of the mouse and keyboard, but that could change with the upcoming Shadowlands expansion, as Blizzard has now confirmed.

After Dataminer dug out that there were some fragments hidden somewhere in the World of Warcraft code worlds that had to do with key assignments for gamepads, rumors immediately surfaced that the time-honored MMORPG might get an offshoot for the consoles.
This is obviously not the case, because Blizzard Community Manager Randy “Kaivax” Jordan has now commented on the WoW forums and confirmed that the developer is busy experimenting with controller support for the upcoming Shadowlands expansion.
Blizzard has noticed that there are always players who try to use third-party addons to make the game usable with gamepads, among other things because they are unable to use their mouse and keyboard due to health restrictions use. Therefore Blizzard is now working on improving the accessibility and enabling keybinds, camera control and the like for controllers such as the Xbox Adaptive Controller.
So the chances are good that with Shadowlands you can now also access the PS4 or Xbox gamepad to play WoW, even if it is not yet clear what extent the adjustments will get.
