As promised, Tempering Developer Spiders has launched a closed beta of the game. The beta is a pre-order bonus for early purchases of the game version, unfortunately not available any other way.
The Steelrising beta went live a few minutes ago and will run until September 7th, the day before the full game’s global release.
As you might expect, the content of this beta is limited. You will have access to the first two levels of the game and play as many times as you like. You’ll also find some weapons to help you on your journey, and you can even modify the build.
However, beta progress doesn’t carry over to the entire game, so think of it as more of a demo to help you get acquainted with the game’s combat and settings. And you’ll probably need it, because Nioh and Souls fight is in Steelrising’s DNA.
When James played it, he found its mechanics compelling, and despite its derivative, the question remains whether it can keep your interest throughout the game’s entire run.
Steelrising is one of the 2022 games we’re not too sure about, but willing to give it a chance during this quiet year. Spiders often offer fun games, even if they tend to be more clunky than some people can tolerate.
If you’d rather wait for a review, Steelrising launches September 8 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
