At the American online retailer Newegg the prices of an RTX 4080 from the manufacturer PNY were briefly listed. At times, it was even advertised at an MSRP of $1,199. The ad has since been updated and the price tags removed. At least there is hope to buy the graphics card at Nvidia’s recommended price.
On our page of the big pond you will find the first offers on the Danish website of ProShop. The good news: In the online shop, cards from several manufacturers are listed, all with prices.
The bad news: The cheapest model from the manufacturer Inno3D costs 12,190 Danish kroner, the equivalent of $1,638.52. The most expensive model from ASUS even comes to 14,690 crowns, i.e. $1,974.56 (exchange rates from November 3rd). Editor’s Opinion
Dinh Linh Duy: Nvidia and AMD realized at the latest with the chip shortage crisis that people are willing to put large sums of money on the table for their high-end graphics cards. Although the RTX 4090 is too expensive, it was sold out quickly. I think the situation with the RTX 4080 will be no different.
With the RTX 4090, Nvidia has pushed the upper class a little higher and AMD seems to be pursuing the same strategy with the RX 7900 XTX. Having more choice is primarily a positive, but I’m hoping the price boosts don’t spill over into the mid-range and low-end.
Personally, I’m not happy about the price development, but I’m not surprised either. With a little patience, the prices of the 4000 series will also drop. If you want to get your hands on the new high-end graphics cards early, you unfortunately have to be willing to pay four-digit amounts at the moment.
