The PlayStation 5 is the latest game console from Sony, released in November 2020. Sony wants to take the gaming experience to the climax, starting with the DualSense controller, which takes advantage of haptic feedback and allows the controller’s vibrations to become much louder and prepare for what’s at stake. The innovation doesn’t stop there.
In 2019, Sony began research into artificial intelligence by opening a department dedicated to this element. This has already started to produce results with a patent for a Playstation assistant that can, for example, give you instructions on how to beat a boss in a game. Sony won’t stop there.
Artificial intelligence to replace you?
The company has just filed a patent that will allow us to automate our gaming practice through artificial intelligence. A default profile would be assigned to the player, and through many gaming sessions this AI would learn to refine itself to adhere to the latter’s behavior. He could then activate an option that would allow the AI to play automatically for him without his intervention. Then why let a robot play for us when it is a pleasure to play yourself? Sony talks about enabling tasks that are difficult for the user to complete or cooperative multiplayer games that can continue even if a participant needs to be temporarily absent.
