No one can deny the sales success of Little Nightmares and it could be thought that its sequel also seeks to achieve this same benefit. However, it seems that this is not one of the priority goals of the developers.
According to the senior narrative designer Dave Mervik
We really want people to feel that this is a worthy sequel, that […] It is not just something to get money. We have been amazed at how people have bought everything in this world. You always expect it but you don’t expect it, you throw this and think, “Oh, I wonder if people are going to get involved with us because we’re taking a chance,” you know, not talking and not telling people everything. People buy big […] but it also has all these theories and everything. I want them to feel that we are respecting everything and giving them something more, and that we care about this as much as they do.
