Sending letters and birthday cards is about to get the whole UK excited, as Royal mail announces a new set of classic toy stamps.
There are 12 different designs in total available; Royal Mail says the stamps "celebrate the joy of pioneering gaming and games made in the UK built since the 1980s and '90s". Perhaps the most important of all is the four-pack chart Tomb Raider and its protagonist, Lara Croft, but we have a rundown of all the other games represented below, too.
If you like the look of these, you can order the full order from Royal mail website for £ 14.25. They will also sell in general at 7,000 offices across the UK from January 21st.
Here's what we have promised:
Elite (1984) – was a pioneering local trading game developed for BBC Micro and Acorn Electron. Produced by Cambridge-based duo, David Braben and Ian Bell, the game is a fantasy and was exchanged for the face of computer gaming. Using a small amount of memory, this was the first 3D game where players roamed the galaxy. It is consistently ranked among the most important video games ever made.
Dizziness (1987) – was compiled by Oliver's twin and published by the Codemasters. It went on to be one of the most successful British sports of the time. Originally built for the Amstrad CPC, it quickly transformed into the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and other computers and pins. The main character of the game is a fast-paced egg that surrounds the logical world of solving a puzzle by collecting interesting objects.
Mostly(1989) – was the first civilization game and some of the most successful PC games ever produced. It's a real-time strategy game, won numerous awards and voted among the most important games of all time. Bullfrog Productions was created.
Fools (1991) – was created by the Dundee based DMA, and was one of the most well received games in the 1990s. The goal is to save lemmings, and to use the skills of humans to help escape.
Instrument Equipment (1991) – A downhill race built by the Codemasters, where players chase miniature toy cars. It is very influential and popular; the game is considered an ancient game.
Sensible Soccer(1992) – is regarded by many as the father of digital football, and still has a following. It was billed as one of the most important video games of all time by a committee of American sports experts.
Clear (1995) – developed in Liverpool on the episode of Hypy & # 39; s Psygnosis. Clear it was a futuristic race changer for the new PlayStation that turned into a tradition. He produced the first music produced by Orbital and The Chemical Brothers.
Wormwood (1995) – Published by Team 17 and featured cartoon-style battles between worms. The series has progressed into a success story abroad, helping Wakefield-based, Team 17, become the world's leading sports publisher.
We think most people who buy these will be doing that to keep them at home, but hopefully in private they will find something in the post with someone they will find. It's a strange but cool concept.
