Random: Mario Galaxy Returns Next Year in “Super Mario Odyssey's Biggest Mod Ever”

Modders are always developing games in new ways, and the latest effort is being touted as the “biggest” Super Mario Odyssey mod to date.

If you haven't seen it already, it's called Super Mario Odyssey – the story of the galaxy and it is “mod by Slycer and many others”. It brings the Super Mario Galaxy universe to Mario's 2017 Switch release, fully recreating the Wii-era outing on Odyssey's game engine.

It adds “over 400 new moons/power stars to collect” and reintroduces the Comet Observatory to “a new overworld system” and “all 42 galaxies” from Super Mario Galaxy. And if that's not enough, “bosses and enemies” from the Galaxy world and mechanics from this title have been added.

“Lots of new mechanics from Super Mario Galaxy – gravity system, building blocks, Cataquacks, Flipswitch panels, toxicology boxes and more…”

This isn't the first time we've seen fans bring Super Mario Galaxy games to life, and it probably won't be the last. You can actually play the original Galaxy game on Switch, but the catch is that it's only available in Nintendo's “limited time” Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection.
