Following the cancellation of Nintendo Live 2024 in Tokyo, the world championships for Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe had to be postponed to a later date. Well, that date is now here as the events begin today (or tomorrow, depending on your time zone).
The championship itself will be held in Japan, although everything will be broadcast on Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel so no one has to miss any action.
Things start today at 22:00 PST / 6:00 BST (April 13) / 7:00 CET (April 13)
This year’s World Finals will be the first time the events have been held in person since 2019, and will feature competitors from all over the world.
Germany’s KaiZer will represent Europe in the Splatoon competition after taking home a dominant win victory against Golden Cut in last year’s European final. The continent will also be represented on the Mario Kart side, with France’s Thomas winning his seat in 2023
For North America, Team Jackpot will bring their “fun, goofy” unpredictability to the Splatoon 3 tournament, while in the Mario Kart competition, Kevo will come after winning the North American Championship last year.
Things will be kicking off later today (for those in North America), so get those snacks ready for a weekend of competitive play.
