Upcoming shooter ‘Otxo’ channels ‘Hotline Miami’ in all the right ways

If you’re a fan of Hotline Miami and have been dying for something similar on the Switch, then the upcoming top-down shooter Otxo (pronounced ‘oh-cho’, by the way) might be one to keep your eye on.

Starting at March 28, 2024, Otxo takes a pixel art visual approach with a black and white color palette; except for the incredibly bright, creepy blood, of course. Using a roguelike structure where you can get upgrades by buying various drinks, you’ll be shooting enemies left and right with gameplay not too dissimilar to Hotline Miami itself.

However, the key change with this one is that you can use the ‘focus’ ability to slow down time at any point and actually dodge bullets. Indeed, Neo himself would be proud.

Here’s an overview of the key features:

Tons of replayability: OTXO will take the player through 8 areas with a randomly placed selection of rooms from over 150 handcrafted rooms built in the game. No two game series will be the same.
Customization: Find a setting to help you break the cycle with a whole range of unlockable weapons and over 100 abilities to gain from the game’s enigmatic bartender.
Game style: With the slow motion mechanic, Focus, available, OTXO will make the player feel powerful and in control. However, be careful as the different types of enemies that come your way can quickly turn the tide of combat if you don’t adjust accordingly.
soundtrack: Fully immerse yourself in the brutal noir-esque ballet of murder through a fierce soundtrack composed by the developer himself.

Otxo can now be pre-ordered for £11.39 / $14.99.
