School’s out, honey! Sorry what..? What do you mean we’re grown up? Phew, good.
Yes, it’s the weekend, which means it’s time to find out which games we all plan to run. Before we do that, though, let’s recap some of the biggest stories of the week, shall we?
First, we learned that The Pokémon Company filed a lawsuit against a shady trading card game, so that’s a thing. Sega also announced that Sonic X Shadow Generations will be coming to Switch in Fall 2024, which is exciting!
Analysts also hit back at it this week, claiming that the much-rumored ‘Switch 2’ is unlikely to be as successful as the current console. We were also introduced to Nintendo’s upcoming Mario vs. Donkey Kong and we left feeling pretty optimistic about the launch later this month.
Now, let’s find out what we’re playing, eh?

I will deal with the fourth chapter Big Ace Lawyer 2: Solve. After finishing the first game in the collection almost exactly a year ago, it’s nice to move forward with the second and final game of Naruhodo’s Adventures. So far I’m loving my time with him; it’s just a sequel to the first game, and it fixes some bugs, and (it seems) it’s getting close to something spectacular!

I have a few things on the go at the moment, review-wise, so I’m not playing anything else right now. That said, I’m tempted to dive into Metroid Dread again.
The NL team has heard me bang on about this, but I lost an insole a few weeks ago. A few days ago I had an epiphany and it turns out I left the cartridge in the box for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. I borrowed it from my brother and thought “I’ll just leave Metroid here, it’ll be fine”. Of course, I completely forgot about it.
Anyway, now that my baby is back, I might as well play once more.

I’m going to the World of Pixar exhibit with the kids this weekend and I’ve been thinking about the lack of good Pixar video games. Toy Story 3 was supposed to be interesting, right? I haven’t played Lego Incredibles or the N64 Toy Story 2, both seem solid if unremarkable, but I might watch them on Sunday if a healthy family movie marathon doesn’t move me to tears.
Elsewhere, I finally gave in and cashed in my last game voucher for Pikmin 4. I played 1-3 and it was only a matter of time, but I want to get involved now in this quiet period at the beginning of the year before the new games arrive to clear the backlog . I’ve heard the intro is very talky, but I’m anxious to get involved.
Have a great weekend, folks.

Still totally in love with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Sargon’s movement and combat abilities are at their peak as we near the end game. A little nostalgic trip with Arcade Archives Silkworm which is an old Amiga favorite (I miss the Barry Leitch theme tune…) and some meaner shooter action with the Telenet Shooting Collection. I will also continue mine IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey campaign on PS3 and you can blame it 100% Lords of the air on AplleTV+ for that.
Game of the week is a bit of a cheat. I brand new one Anbernic RG35XX H it just arrived so I will definitely try this. Imagine that, carrying your entire childhood in your pocket! We really live in the future.

I partner plays Apollo Justice, just like I said last week… but we’ve been too busy this week to play much (we saw two shows. TWO! Like some classy people).
So this weekend I’ll probably play more Cobalt Core (it’s great), watch him play over AJ:AA, and play Enter the Gungeon together. I like all the gun puns.
Off, it’s over Deadly Company for me! It’s silly, but incredibly fun with friends. I doubt it will ever make it to the Switch though I think the technical needs are pretty low. Also, maybe Tucked away? I friends and I really enjoyed Valheim and it seems to be similar! And a friend sent it to me Kill the princess so I’m stoked to finally try it.
Wow, that’s a lot of games. RIP me.

Granted, I’ll mostly be playing a PS5 game this weekend — Persona 3 Reload. Persona 3 is my favorite Persona the game as a whole (The Persona 2 duology leads the way in the story department, but Atlus doesn’t remember those games exist), but it’s been nine years since I last played it through. So I am extremely excited to be returning to Iwatodai.
I’m more than halfway through Golden Sun: The Lost Age on Switch, and while I’m getting a little burned out after back-to-back long dungeons (Aqua Rock, Gaia Rock, etc…), I’m still loving the sequel. I’ve also seen high praise from our readers on the Crystal Project, so I’d love to see a demo for that as well. Happy weekend and happy February — spring is just around the corner!
That’s what we have planned for the weekend, what about you? Take the following poll with the game you’ll be running over the next few days, then slide into the comments to tell us what other titles are on the cards.
