Now let’s see what we’re up to this weekend, shall we?

Before Christmas 2023, I had never played Stardew Valley. Just two weeks into 2024, it seems like that’s all I’m playing for. Yes, I may be a little late to the party for this party, but it’s just brilliant! I farm is currently nothing more than some crop fields with a poorly made wooden path down the middle, but I have big dreams for the place. Large dreams.
If I manage to get away from my farming duties for a while, I think it’s high time I got back to Baldur’s Gate 3. I first 50 hours flew by, but maybe it’s time to get out of the character creator and see what the story part has to offer (spoiler: I won’t).

I’m currently slowly working my way through Persona 3 Portable. When I say slow, I mean it, as I think I only logged about 2 hours after over a week. I’ll get there though, don’t worry. However, first I need to play the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown demo a few more times. I’m very tempted to buy the whole game.
I’m also currently playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5 and even though it feels overwhelming at times, I’m really enjoying the world and its characters. I have a feeling I’ll be coming back to this a lot in 2024.

I’ll mostly be spending this weekend playing a few upcoming games for review, but I’ll also be trying out EA Sports FC 24 for the first time on Switch, after picking it up for half price on the eShop. (I believe this offer is still available if you are interested). I loved it on the X series, I’m totally addicted to Ultimate Team, so I feel that dropping to 30fps might be a fair trade for portable soccer balls.
Other than that, well – and please don’t tell anyone – but I’ve been going a little Donkey Kong crazy lately and finally got round to playing Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze again. Spoiler alert; it’s still one of the best platform games on Switch!
Have a nice weekend and may God have mercy on all our souls.

I have been very cruel to my Switch recently. Aside from playing the fantastic Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, I’ve barely touched it in almost a month. Why?
Baldur’s Gate 3.
I’m a little late to the party, I know, but since I started it over Christmas, I’ve barely played anything else. No prizes for guessing what I’ll be doing my weekend.

I got my hands on the Wii version of Ghostbusters The Video Game a few months ago and finally got it running through the Wii U. I kids are GB fans after, hmm, someone indoctrinated them with kid-safe bits of movies, a box of ’80s toys, and endless reruns of Ray Parker Jr. around Halloween, and the cartoony aesthetic of the Wii port of Red Fly is suitable for kids to watch together. I really enjoy the second version and never played this one. it is great! I’ve never understood the criticism that Murray’s delivery is flat or phoney – his performance sounds fully engaged and in-character and in-game. You were good, Bill.
I’d also like to check out the Prince of Persia demo if I get time, and I’d also go back to Outer Wilds. You know, if I’m not distracted by a 15 year old Wii version of a game I’ve already played a few times. Have a great time, folks.

Not much changes for me this weekend — I’ve been making really good progress in Lufia II and absolutely loving my time with the game. I think I’m already halfway through, so I’m in for some tough puzzles. I’ve already gone through the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown demo and I think I need that game, right now. And I want to continue with Iconoclasts, but I don’t like it so far — it’s good! But I haven’t quite figured it out yet.
Unfortunately, my plans for 2024 have already been derailed by a few surprise purchases I made earlier in the week. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Islanders Console Edition. I don’t play enough driving simulators or island builders, but whenever I do it really gets me into it. And folks, I was really sucked in. Help.

This weekend I plan to tackle the 5th and “extra” chapter of the first Ace Attorney game. It was a great pleasure to finally play OG after falling in love with The Great Ace Attorney.
Other than that, I’m also planning to play Baldur’s Gate with my friend, but it’s not on a Nintendo console, so I’ll leave it at that.

I have a few games in mind that I’d like to play this weekend, the main one being Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. I honestly wasn’t hooked on it, but here we are, totally obsessed with Sargon’s time-twisting shenanigans.
Other games I like to dabble in (and I say playing them would be cheating on my desire to play Prince of Persia only for the full 48 hours available) is Mario Party Superstars for some family fun and I’d like to check out my latest purchase OlliOlli World. Looks like a peaceful way to pass the time, one kickflip at a time.

This weekend is The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood for me! After he saw Nominations for the IGF Award came out last week, and seeing that it’s nominated for Narrative makes me even more excited to find out what the hell it’s all about. So far I’ve met a demon, flirted with a demon, and made myself some very shabby new tarot cards out of some sort of rudimentary Fuzzy Felt interface. Very entertaining.
However! Another game that was nominated for Narrative, Mediterranean hell, is also coming to Switch. Should I buy it? The IGFs are a great way to discover new and underrated indie games, and I’ve been on the narrative jury myself a few times, so I trust the process. I’ll try it out and let you know in the next WAYP!
That’s what we have planned for the weekend, what about you? Take the following poll with the game you’ll be running over the next few days, then slide into the comments to tell us what other titles are on the cards.
