In addition to the Steam Deck and portable consoles from ASUS and MSI, not forgetting the Nintendo Switch, there are a large number of manufacturers on the market who offer this type of device through crowdfunding campaigns and who have head office in Chinawhich is a significant negative if we have a problem with the console and need to send it in for repair.
If we are looking for a portable console and the solutions that we can find on the market do not satisfy our needs, a new model of the British manufacturer Tulpar, with a portable console inside which we find an Intel Meteor Lake processor that we usually find in laptops.
Tulpar portable console
Tulpar, a portable equipment manufacturer that mainly focuses its business in the United Kingdom, decided not to follow the same path as other portable consoles and, instead of using AMD’s Phoenix APU, it opted for Intel’s Meteor Lake with the first portable console model. console that is launching on the market.
Intel Gaming’s X account (Twitter) has published various photographs with this manufacturer’s first portable console, a console whose name we barely know. Featuresbut with which we can get an idea of what it will offer us, in addition to a Meteor Lake CPU.
Starting with the interior, if we take into account that on the market we can find models with the Intel Core 7 155H and the Intel Core 7 125H, these are most likely the processors that this manufacturer will use in this console. As for the storage space, we cannot deduce it from the images that have been published, but it would be logical to start with a 512 GB M2 SSD. The same thing happens with the RAM memory therefore, if we base ourselves on similar models it will most likely be available in 16 and 32 GB versions.
As for the design, it seems to have a screen 8 inches and physically with a design very similar to the Nintendo Switch, with rounded edges and the position of the buttons and joysticks in the same place as the Japanese giant’s console. We don’t know what type of screen it will use (OLED or LCD) as well as the resolution, although it will most likely be FullHD (1920×1080).
The joysticks have RGB lighting which is likely customizable and/or automatically adjusts based on the predominant color on the screen, just like many keyboards and mice on the market do. The model that can be seen in the images published by the Intel Gaming account is blue and black on the case with light green accents on the buttons.
Concerning the operating system, we could say, without fear of being wrong, that this equipment will be managed by Windows 11in order to maximize compatibility with all video game platforms and be able to enjoy any title.
Pricing and availability
At the moment we do not know the launch date or the price of the entry model. These images suggest that a testing phase is underway with users to refine the negative aspects that can be improved and that were not taken into account during development, so everything seems to indicate that in the coming weeks we will see a new member in the portable console market.
