The Xbox Series S in a reduced version of features compared to the Series X. It is characterized by the fact that it is based on an AMD APU with RDN2 graphics. It also includes a 512GB PCIe SSD and 10GB of GDDR6 memory. The problem would come from the fact that the memory is shared between the processor and the graphics card.
Although we have 10GB of GDDR6 memory, not all chips are the same. There are 8 GB of GDDR6 with a bandwidth of 224 GB/s and 2 GB of GDDR6 with a limited bandwidth of 56 GB/s. They are shared dynamically between the processor and the graphics card.
Borderlands 3 not running well on Xbox Series S
Several Reddit users are reporting issues with Borderlands 3 game on Microsoft console. The game runs smoothly on the Xbox Series X, but on the scaled-down version of that console it causes issues.
Digital Foundry and The Verge reported that the Xbox series S it’s a issue for the developers. This “forces” them to optimize their games more than they would like. It has a less powerful graphics card and does not support ray tracing. There would be a significant bottleneck that would affect performance in games.
According to various information, Microsoft Faced with complaints, it launched a special development kit. Allows game creators to have more console memory manageability.
El memory allocation problem on the Xbox Series X and the “only” 10 GB of GDDR6 this is a problem. We must bear in mind that most Games they are already starting to recommend at least 16 GB of RAM memory. Plus, they require graphics cards with 6-8GB of VRAM, which is more than double what Microsoft’s console offers.
In addition to reduced capacity, which is out of step with current “demands”, we have bandwidth imbalances. It’s rare for 2GB of GDDR6 to have such surreal slow speed.
Gearbox, the developers of Borderlands 3, are reportedly working on a patch that fixes the issue. Also note that this is not a problem present in all users, but it affects some users.
Whose fault is the problem?
Anyone who looks at the recommended requirements for the latest PC games will see that 16GB of RAM is standard. Some games already recommend at least 32 GB. They also require modern graphics cards, some even blatantly tell you that “only” NVIDIA RTX is worth it.
Removing the merry Ray Tracing (which is only worth stopping graphics cards) there isn’t a huge graphical improvement. The games use more modern engines, which are theoretically much better graphically. The problem is that the games are not optimized, they are launched and as is.
We see games that are 200-300 GB in size, which is really crazy. Games with hundreds or thousands of bugs and glitches at launch. Just yesterday I played Modern Warfare 2 which got updated.
Even though I have a really good system, it put me in the zone with the sandstorm and the game was going like an ass for me. So much so that I died without knowing the reason, without knowing what had happened. Something that forced me to make graphic adjustments and activate DLSS in order to have an acceptable FPS rate.
Warfare 2 Session 3 is riddled with bugs, graphical glitches, and well, face disconnects are still the norm.

Hello @es_warzone. The game has a number of unfortunate bugs and glitches, but getting stuck in a buy box is a real pain in the ass. Lose all inventory for this, because pathetic is an understatement. #Warzone2 https://t.co/oQgwoR64Gq
