If we talk about smart speakers, we have to talk about Amazon’s Echo devices, the oldest range on the market with almost 10 years of operation. Over the years, not only have their prices dropped, but Amazon has also introduced a large number of additional features in addition to the new models with screens.
In order to get the most out of Amazon’s Echo line of devices, it is Internet connection is required, a very simple process that we can carry out in a few seconds. If we change router or operator, to continue using Echo devices it will be necessary to change the Wi-Fi network to which they are connected, because otherwise we will have a pretty paperweight.
Depending on whether it’s an Echo device with or without a screen, the process for changing the wireless network it’s connected to it’s different.
Change the Wi-Fi network on an Echo Show
Since they have a built-in screen, changing the WiFi network of these devices is a very complex process. Quick and easy, since we can do it directly from the device. To perform this task, you must access the configuration options from the main screen by sliding a finger from the top of the screen to the bottom.
Then we click on Setting. In the configuration options, click Red. A few seconds later a list will be displayed with all the 2.4 and 5 GHz wireless networks that are near the device and to which we can connect them. Just select it and enter the password. A few seconds later the device will be associated with the new wireless website and we can continue using it as before.
Change the Wi-Fi network on an Echo speaker
If changing the Wi-Fi network of a device in the Echo Show range is a process that can be carried out directly on the device, when it comes to a speaker, things change from this does not include any type of screen this allows us to interact with the device.
To make this change we will need to install the Alexa app on our mobile device, a completely free application that we can download through the links that we show below.
Once we have installed the application, we must enter the data of the same account that we use on Amazon. From the main screen, we go to the bottom and click on Devices
In the speaker options, click State then, in the window below, in the section Red Wi-Fi we click on To change then click Join another wifi network.
If we do not want to change the Wi-Fi network from the Echo Show screen we have, we can use this same application to carry out the process from our mobile phone.
Alexa is also available as an application for Windows, an application that can be downloaded directly from the Microsoft Store via the following link. However, this application does not allow us to change the settings of any of the Echo devices with Alexa that we have at home, but rather to enjoy Alexa on our PC.
