Now that we know our “PING”, we will try to improve this data with some tips and tricks.
1. Improve our bandwidth
The first thing we are going to do is remove the limitation that Windows has by default. It will not improve the PING of our connection, but it will improve the speed, and it indirectly influences the latency.
To do this, we will perform the following steps:
- Pulsar WIN + R to open the command bar
- To write gpedit.msc and press enter
- Deploy “Equipment Settings” and seek Administrative Templates > Network > QoS Packet Scheduler
- In the section “Limit reservable bandwidth” we have to select “Enabled” and mark as bandwidth limit a 0%
This is necessary because even when we enter we see that there is nothing configured, Windows by default limits our connection by 20%and this, depending on the speed we have contracted, can influence a lot.
2. Clear and Flush DNS Cache
Second, we will do a DNS cleanupsince these can greatly slow down the connections with the servers to which we connect in the different games.
To do this, we will proceed as follows:
- we press WIN + R to open the command bar again.
- We wrote CMD and we open it
- In the new window we will write ipconfig /flushdns and we will press enter
list, the DNS cache will have been flushed without having to do anything else. Now it is possible that our connection with the new servers works faster.
3. Reset Network Card Mapping
If our problem is even more serious, we will opt for something more radical, resetting the network parameters, which will cause our IP to change and the need to restart our computer.
For this we will return to the previous point but with other commands.
- we press WIN + R to open the command bar again.
- We wrote CMD and we open it
- In the new window we will write the following commands one by one, running them all individually each time we write them. Same method as the previous point.
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
Done, now any connection or configuration issue due to our IP and network card should be fixed, along with speed improvement.
4. Assign DNS manually
Hardly anyone assigns their DNS manually, instead they use the one Windows provides automatically. And this can lead to increased latency and reduced speed.
To do this, we will configure one ourselves as follows.
- Pulsar Windows + I
- Go to the section of “Red and the Internet”
- A new window will open, we select our network card and do right click select “properties”
- we are looking for “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and we double click on it.
- The window will open where we can find and manually configure our DNS address
in this window We will write:
- Preferred DNS server -> 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS Server -> 8.8.4.4
These are owned by Google and would be the most stable and interesting option. We just have to give Accept and the changes will take effect.
At this time we can return to the starting point and perform the speed test again, with it we will check if our PING has been reduced or not, and, therefore, if these methods have been useful to you.
Now all you have to do is restart your favorite game and enjoy. improve your speed and latency to win every game.
