Before we get started, we should clarify that the solutions we can tell you below are yours when the keyboard is not fully functional; In other words, if your problem is that a particular key is not in use, the key may be damaged and that you must fix or replace the keyboard. What we will tell you next will help you if nothing is working on your keyboard.
On-screen keyboard
In some of these solutions you will need to have a keyboard, which makes sense considering that the problem is that the keyboard is not working. Fortunately, Windows has a "keyboard screen" tool that will allow us to have a virtual keyboard on the screen, where we can "type" by pressing buttons with the mouse. To access it, click the Start button and navigate to "Windows Access", where you can select the on-screen keyboard.
It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but being able to use some of these solutions can help.
What to do when the keyboard doesn't work
Now that we have a virtual keyboard to get out of the way if you don't have one left, let's take a look at what possible solutions are when the keyboard doesn't work.
Replace USB port keyboard
The first thing you should try. Most likely the problem is USB connected to it and not the keyboard itself, so try connecting the keyboard to another USB, and if possible to other "blocks" of ports (separate), If the motherboard has separate USB controllers.
All USB machines are plug-in & Play, so you can do it electronically safely. If connecting the keyboard to another USB is working, then you know where the problem is, and it's not on the keyboard. In this case you should check the USB of the motherboard or where it is connected, install its drivers, etc.
Try the keyboard on another PC
This is the second thing to do. If you have another PC in your home, try connecting the keyboard to it and see if it works, or if not, take it to the home of a friend who has a PC. It can also be useful to connect the keyboard to a Smart TV or game console.
If by connecting it to another PC, console or Smart TV keyboard works well, then the problem may be too much for your PC software, and then we can see what you can do about it.
Check Windows components
In some cases the actual driver installed on Windows components may disable the keyboard, so if after trying the above, it may be best to do this again. To do this you need to open the Command Prompt window as Administrator (right-click the start button and select Command Prompt (Administrator). When the window is open, type the following (with the screen keyboard) and exit it with ENTER.
sfc / scanner
If all goes well, this process will not take more than a minute, but if there is a problem, it will automatically detect and resolve, so in that case – a good signal – it will take a while. After reboot, if the keyboard error didn't work it was a Windows component, it should work again.
Reinstall the driver
And we're not referring to software for the kind of product you might have (such as Razer Synfall or Corsair CUE for example), but it's an internal drive for Windows, because that can also be the cause of the problem.
To do this, you must open Device Manager (right-click on Start and select Device Manager). Once inside, you should search for the "keyboard keyboard" on your keyboard, then uninstall (right-click -> uninstall the device) for everything called "HID keyboard". There may be a few parts of these items with the same name, you have to remove them all.
Once this is done, restart the PC. When you restart Windows, the operating system will try to find the keyboard and install its corresponding driver, so you don't have to do anything else.
If after trying this solution to keep the keyboard back in place, it might be damaged and you should change it to new.
