Last week, Cyberpunk 2077 was $5 at Best Buy. Amazon is giving away games like elden ring Get a free discount with a purchase of two. And PlayStation’s spring sale, which runs all month, has some solid deals on a slew of games. But the real best low-key video game sales of the season was secretly on the 3DS, where person, Shin Megami Tenseiand a number of other JRPGs are cheaper than ever.
Atlus and Sega will be there until April 17th ongoing steep discounts their digital goods on Nintendo’s latest generation handheld in front of his eShop finally begins closing in May 2023 (You can still download stuff you’ve already bought). This includes the lively dungeon crawling series Etrian Odyssey
These games all range from decent to great, and since they typically cost $20-$30, getting them for just a few bucks feels like the sweet spot for the kinds of things you might be excited to try and then never have the time to come back to. Why bother filling up your gas tank when you could instead be sitting at home listening to hundreds of hours of demonic nonsense? Especially since most of these games will probably never get ports or remasters.

If you’ve already played some of these games, this is the perfect opportunity to round out your collection. If you are not sure where to start, shortcut is the Etrian Odyssey Dungeon grind at its deepest and most sophisticated devil survivor 2 is similarly improved over its predecessor, although personally I prefer the overall story and tone of the first game better. I personally took this opportunity to finally pick up Strange Journey Reduxa remake of the 2009 DS game that brings John Carpenter-esque space horror energy to the demon-filled JRPG series the thing. I’ll finally play too 7. Dragon III code: VFD, whose art has mocked me for years. As the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to sink my world-weary eyes into 40+ hours of gaming commitments that I’ll likely be munching on for the next five years.
It’s also not a bad time to watch shows like Etrian Odyssey and devil summoner. After its first teaser in 2018, a new entry in the dungeon crawler could be revealed any day now. And Atlus revealed Devil Summoner: Soul Hacker 2 last month and later this year on August 26th on all platforms (except Switch). In the meantime, it’s 2022 and I’m about to put my 2DS XL through its paces again.
