Is that a villain or is it maybe the original hero of the story? Screenshot: Nintendo
Everyone holds their breath when there is news on the subject Breath of the Wild 2 can finally take a big breath because Nintendo finally gave us a look at what we’ll be doing in the RPG sequel. But with all that excitement, it’s pretty easy to miss some of the finer details hiding in the absolutely jam-packed trailer. Let’s take some time to dissect, will we?
The trailer starts with Zelda falling and later we see parts of Ganon’s dungeon rise into the air. But I can’t be the only one hearing a strange warp sound the 15-second mark
when Zelda “falls”, right? Are we sure that we are seeing things in the order in which they occurred? Are we dealing with time gimmicks? There is even speculation as to who the bad guy really is in those first few seconds. Sure, he has orange curls that scream Ganondorf, but think back to the early moments of the first game. That hero of the times NOTHING looks like Link.
Are these well-known places? In the first trailer for BOTW 2 , we saw a piece of Hyrule Castle peel off. And now, Fans speculate where exactly the floating islands that we see throughout the trailer belong, as they are likely parts of the map already in place. If so, it’s a great way to re-feel places we already know.
Left glowing arm tells us that our wandering hero will have new skills as they can be teased in concept art for BOTW 1 . We’ll see teleportation later in the trailer. But is it possible that, according to existing Nintendo art, we could use this beefed up appendage to throw bombs or hook a shot?
Nintendo knows why we are really here: to make every Bokoblin’s life hell, ideally with the use of giant spiky metal balls. At first it might seem like Link is chaining different objects together for a bokoblin bowling. But is it possible as a kind reader told me , that we see a force that moves the ball back through time and retraces its original path?

Link with a damn flamethrower is notably in myself, but I’m also scared to think of all the accidental fires that I have on the Grassy landscape. However, here it seems to allow Link to reach higher enemies.
We can clearly see that Link is now able to penetrate solid objects. What I would like to point out, however, is that just before we see this power activate, we also see a small puddle. This water is then soaked up by a drop and disappears, almost making it seem like things are moving backwards. Fans have noticed that the music being played here is distorted BOTW 1’s Theme music, but vice versa . Are we somehow manipulating time? Let the theories begin.
Does Link look different to you guys? Are that pony? Changing a character’s appearance is practically a given in a sequel, but in this case, it’s the fuel for a lot of wild speculation. Is there a reason we never see Link’s face directly in this trailer? Is that because there is more than one link, maybe from different timelines? Or a fan favorite Theory That Will Never Die: Does this trailer somehow hide playable Zelda? Anyway, Nintendo obviously got us all talking.
