At the Summer Game Fest, Blumhouse Games revealed a whole slew of horror games it will be releasing in the near future as the horror film studio sets its sights on a new medium. Among the games shown is Sam Barlow’s upcoming horror game titled Project C which is being created in collaboration with Brandon Cronenberg.
Blumhouse came to Summer Game Fest with a sizzle reel showcasing a huge selection of horror games, ranging from horror first-person shooters to what looked like a farming game with a horror twist.
Crisol: Theatre of Idols was first and appears to be a first-person shooter from Vermila Studios. It’s the team’s debut game and seems to be inspired by the darker aspects of 20th-century Spanish folklore. It’s a first-person adventure title that looks every bit as outlandish and out of this world as you’d expect from the talent behind the game. Sleep awake is set in a distant future where people disappear in their sleep and those who don’t disappear must survive the death cults of the last city on Earth.
Fear the limelighta “spooky love letter to classic ’90s teen horror stories” from Cozy Game Pals, is a retro-style horror game in which friends break into a school after school, solve a decades-old mystery, and try to survive the night. The simulation
Finally, although we know Project C by Sam Barlow and Half-Mermaid Studio, details have been largely scarce. They still are, but at the Summer Game Fest we learned that the game is being developed with the help of Brandon Cronenberg, the director of Infinity pool and the son of famous horror director David Cronenberg.
Overall, Blumhouse seems to be making big moves in the gaming industry, and with such an exciting lineup, I’m excited to see how they’ll make a splash in one of gaming’s most popular genres.
