Bungie is cracking down destiny 2 Players using third-party peripherals to cheat in the game’s competitive and cooperative modes.
The studio follows Call of Duty: Warzone‘s example, that introduced a similar ban in early April, and now monitors when players use gadgets to compete against others. Bungie outlines its policies in a blog post on his websitebut refrains from naming any specific software or hardware because it is “simple [doesn’t] want to provide more of a spotlight than they need to.” But broadly speaking, the post lists things like “programmable controllers, keyboard and mouse adapters, advanced macros, or artificial intelligence automation” designed to allow the user to direct input in a way use that goes beyond what the game or player is normally capable of.
Bungie differentiates between things like external accessibility aids that make the game playable for people with disabilities, and third-party peripherals that are maliciously designed to give the user an advantage over others. Because destiny 2PvE content also affects things like racing to end the game’s raids at launch. Bungie extends these rules to cooperative modes as well.
“Just use an accessibility aid to play destiny 2where a player could not otherwise play would not be a violation of this policy,” the post said. “Using these tools to mitigate challenges that all players face, such as B. reducing recoil or increasing aim assist would be a violation.”
Going forward, Bungie says it will monitor violations, with plans to issue warnings, restrictions, or outright bans depending on the situation. Cheating in online games is as old as the medium, but what it means and how to detect it varies from game to game. valve recently over 40,000 scammers caught and banned dota 2
While third-party software and peripherals are part of the conversation, some competing communities decide for themselves what cheating looks like. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate The competitive scene has addressed an in-game strategy deemed unfair involving the character Steve. Since then, some tournament organizers made the decision to ban the character immediatelyinstead of having to screen suspicious players at events.
