Twitch was unblocked today Donald Trumpofficial channel. The Amazon-owned video game streaming site lifted the ban due to Trump’s status as the official Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election following the party’s convention earlier this week.

On 19 July as first reported by e-sports journalist Rod “Slasher” Breslau, Twitch decided to restore Trump’s official account. Breslau shared this statement from Twitch on Twitter explaining the lifting of the ban:
We have restored former President Trump’s channel. We believe it makes sense to hear directly from presidential candidates whenever possible. Trump is now the official Republican nominee for US President.
When he was banned in June 2020, Twitch cited two instances of hate speech shared on his official streaming channel. One of the incidents was the infamous moment during a rally in 2016, which was rebroadcast on the channel. Trump called Mexican immigrants “rapists.” If you listen to Trump’s recent speeches, not much has changed. The former president still spouts hateful comments, easily refuted lies, and other nonsense in almost every speech. But I guess that doesn’t matter to Twitch anymore.
My city has contacted Twitch regarding Trump’s return to the platform.
Twitch also told Breslau that Trump must follow the rules if he wants to avoid another ban.
“Twitch does not have a ‘public figure policy,’ meaning all channels are equally subject to our policies, regardless of whether the channel is owned by a public figure,” Twitch said.
