Every Pokemon is interesting and worth talking about. I don’t play a lot Pokémon, but I enjoy the universe and I love learning more about the creatures in it. So here’s another Pokemon! It is hariyama!
Hariyama details
Type: normal
Average Height: 2 ’00 “
Average weight: 19.4 lbs
First added in Generation II
When I was much younger, an older man told me that beating someone is more powerful than beating him. That a solid blow can stop a person who is dead in their tracks. I don’t remember that encounter much and to date I have never hit anyone. But it turns out the weird old guy was right. And if you hit REALLY hard like Hariyama, you can stop a damn train or blow a pickup truck.
According to Pokedex entries found on Bulbapedia, Hariyama is Pokemon with some powerful slaps. This seems to be due to two things. First, it has big hands, which makes it easier to hit. (That’s just science.) Second, while it looks like a chunky boy, all of the fat is actually muscle. So take so much muscle attached to giant hands and you have a deadly batting monster. Or do you
The thing is, while it may seem dangerous and possibly even fatal, Hariyama is supposed to be kind. It even values etiquette and will go so far as to complement its opponents during a fight. It still beats the living shit out of them, but at least it coats coats that earn a little praise.

This whole gentle giant personality is a bit suspicious, however. Why? Because we have tons of evidence of trucks being whipped into the sky, trains stopped and telephone poles broken in half. These don’t sound like the things a friendly creature would do. Maybe you have trouble problems? Or maybe they have good PR to protect their image. I’ll watch you, Hariyama … I’ll watch.
Random facts
- According to a Pokedex entry, 10-ton trucks can blow up. That’s a massive slap in the face.
- I wouldn’t want to play “Pat-a-Cake, Pat-a-Cake” with this thing. I need my hands for video games and typing.
- I wouldn’t give Hariyama a high five either for the same reasons as above.
