Remember when Elon Musk wasn’t in the news every day because of his latest decisions on Twitterand instead was regularly in the news for constantly talking about his schedules for sending people to life (or even more disturbing, keep dying) Mars? The upcoming series from Apple TV Plus Hello morning! feels like a reaction to that era, starring Billy Crudup as a huckster selling timeshares for an alleged settlement on the moon. The first trailer for Hello morning!
At the same time, the show takes place in one Fail-esque retro future, complete with 1950s themed designs, fashions and vehicles, each with their own futuristic twist. Hovercars with fins! Bubble microwaves on the countertop! Fail-Style gloomy, optimistic news!
However, it is also possible that this show is less of a reaction to SpaceX’s “Let’s all move to space” marketing or Fail‘s dark but happy future setting and more of a response to the critical success of Apple TV Plus’ For all mankind
Here is the series description of Apple TV Plus:
Set in a retro future world, Hello Tomorrow! revolves around a group of traveling vendors peddling lunar timeshares. Billy Crudup plays Jack, a salesman of great talent and ambition whose unwavering belief in a better future inspires his employees, revitalizes his distraught customers, but threatens to lose him dangerously in the very dream that carries him.
Star Trek: Picard‘s Alison Pill co-stars and appears in the trailer, with Haneefah Wood, Nicholas Podany, Dewshane Williams and Hank Azaria also scheduled to star. The 10-part, half-hour series begins Friday, February 17 with the first three episodes, with new episodes added weekly.
