The unmoored world is one of the coolest chapters in Dragon’s Dogma 2but it can seriously trip you up if you don’t know what to do.
After defeating the game’s “final” boss and reaching the true ending, you’ll be thrown into this waterless hellscape and tasked with evacuating major cities across the map before they’re all consumed by a menacing storm. If you want to succeed, you’ll have to navigate a sea of difficult monsters and dragons with a limited number of breaks.
In this Dragon’s Dogma 2 In this guide, we’ll show you how to save everyone in the Unmoored World as efficiently as possible. We’ll also tell you how you can extend your time in the Unmoored World and show you how to get started with New Game Plus Dragon’s Dogma 2.
(Spoiler warning: This post contains major spoilers for the endgame of Dragon’s Dogma 2.)
Best order for the Unmoored World endgame in Dragon’s Dogma 2
There’s a lot to do in a short amount of time in the Unmoored World. But unlike the rest Dragon’s Dogma 2Time doesn’t pass when you play – there is no day-night cycle here. Instead, time only passes when you sleep – a full day each time if you rest.
Not bad, right? Well, unfortunately in the Unmoored World you are only controlled after a rest at an inn or campsite, and if you die you have the option of returning to your last rest or the start of the endgame.
If enough time passes in the Unmoored World, the cloud of smoke moves inward around the map (similar to a battle royale) and engulfs entire cities. This may lose your ability to evacuate all NPCs or collect endgame loot.
With that in mind, I’ve listed my order for navigating the Unmoored World, which will allow you to rescue all the NPCs and leave you plenty of time to explore.
- Head to Seafloor Sanctuary (load up on Wakestones, Ferrystones, Healing Items, and Allheal Elixirs).
- Complete the Dreams Apart quest in Bakbattahl to get your main character back.
- Exit Bakbattahl Palace and complete the Scholarly Pursuit quest to destroy the first beacon.
- Complete the Civil Unrest quest for Menella to evacuate Bakbattahl.
- On your way out of town, speak to Phaesus and accompany him to the Seabed Sanctuary.
- Ferrystone or travel to Volcanic Island Camp and get the “It’s Important to Help Ernesto” quest, but don’t complete it yet.
- Leave the city and go to the body of Talos, the giant construct, to activate a cutscene and complete the quest “Collide at Will.”
- Head to the excavation site and complete the Shepherd of the Pawns quest (if your main character is still in Talos, she will rejoin you about halfway to the ruins).
- Ferrystone or travel to the Sacred Bower to get the Wandering Roots quest and the Cut of the Bowerheart (if you haven’t completed the elves’ quest to restore the Bowerheart, you’ll need to do that first).
- Activate the red beacon at the Sacred Bower and destroy the worm boss.
- Ferrystone or travel back to Seafloor Shrine and plant the Arborheart cuttings.
- Ferrystone or travel back to the Sacred Bower to complete the elves’ evacuation.
- Go to the beacon south of Vernworth, activate it and kill the horned dragon.
- Enter Vernworth, talk to Brant and complete the quest “The Regentkin’s Resolve” to evacuate the town.
- Ferrystone or travel to the new Gate Crystal on the volcanic island of Agamem and complete the quest “Important to Help Ernesto.”
- Make sure you complete the Hall of First Dawn quest, then rest in the Seabed Shrine for all evacuated citizens and shopkeepers to appear.
- Explore the Unmoored World and kill as many dragons as possible to upgrade your equipment.
- Activate the final beacon in the Seafloor Shrine and exit the Unmoored World.
note: I didn’t rest until step 16 because I had a surplus of Wakestones and Elixirs of All Healing. If necessary, you can rest here up to three times without having to fail a quest – there are good opportunities for this after step 10 and step 13. However, I would advise you to save your game status via the cloud or the PC beforehand get some rest, just in case. If you need a fourth rest, make sure you complete The Importance of Aiding Ernest before doing so, as Volcanic Island Camp is the first to be abandoned.
How to extend time in the Unmoored World in Dragon’s Dogma 2
You have four days (including the day you first wake up) before settlements in the Unmoored World are destroyed. Without completing other quests or destroying bosses, you will lose access to certain areas of the map in the following cases:
- Volcanic Island Camp – after your fourth break, so on the fifth day
- Agamen Ruins (excavation site) – after your fifth rest, i.e. on the sixth day
- Holy bower – after the seventh rest, i.e. on the eighth day
- Vernworth and Bakbattahl – after your ninth break, i.e. on the 10th day
If you follow my method above, you won’t lose access to any of these areas. But you will You will have to use alternative methods to restore your health if you do not plan to rest. The best way to do this is to use items like Allheal Elixirs, which restore your maximum health by undoing any damage to your loss meter. You can also use wakestones, which have the added benefit of acting like a second life. As for your characters, simply summon new ones when their maximum health gets too low. To resummon your main character, let them die and then visit any Riftstone.
Even if you do your best to avoid resting for as long as possible, you may still want to spend more time in the Unmoored World before heading to New Game Plus. To completely stop the storm, all you need to do is complete the Unmoored World. This means fighting all beacon bosses and evacuating all cities. (Some sources, such as RageGaming VideosLet’s assume that putting out two beacons gives you some breathing room. Do whatever you want, but don’t forget this Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a punishing save system. My advice is to clear your quest log and defeat all of the Beacon bosses before taking your fourth rest.)
Once the storm completely passes, you’ll have access to the entire Unmoored world for as long as you want – even if you’re resting. However, at some point the game will stop so you can rest and pass the time (12 days seems like the right amount). Community consensus), which means you can no longer revive monsters by sleeping.
How to exit Unmoored World and enter New Game Plus in Dragon’s Dogma 2
When you’re ready to finish your time in the endgame – meaning you’ve got everything you want to take with you into New Game Plus – head to the beacon in the Seabed Shrine and activate it. As the credits roll, you’ll have to survive a quasi-boss fight, and then you’ll be treated to a very cool cutscene that sets the stage for your next playthrough.
When the credits run out, the game will redirect you back to the menu and give you a new prompt: restart the game with the current level and equipment. Congratulations, you’ve mastered everything Dragon’s Dogma 2! Currently….
