About every year, independent Japanese game retailer/shop Meteor holds an exhibition called Famicase. The goal? Showcase cartridge graphics design and illustration for games that don’t exist. Artists from all over the world participate and send their entries. Every year, Meteor selects the best and shows them live in its store.

However, since the exhibition is taking place in Tokyo, most of you reading it won’t be able to stop by. Doesn’t matter! Meteor is also kind enough to publish the entries each year on their website so we can take a look at how incredible each and every one of them is
How I have every year
If you want to see each entry, There is a gallery page herewhile You can also buy a nice book of the entire collection at Meteor for ¥1430 (or about $10 USD). Anyway, without further ado: the submissions!
As a final note, while Famicase is all about imagining games that don’t exist, the focus is simply on creating cartridge artwork that looks great hanging on the wall (or displayed in a book are). That doesn’t mean these games aren’t made. As we have already discussedThe A Game By Its Cover Jam is held every year, where developers are challenged to translate some of these concepts into playable, actual games.
