In the new setstte, the creators throw it in the background Picard to look at you in the form and history of the disconnected Borg Cube, the molded, disconnected part of the Borg Collector that has become the site of intense scientific research. The redesign of the former Borg, the vintage of the amazing technology that compiles the Collective, is another PicardExcellent settings, the terrifying scene turned into a sterile, familiar thing. Probably very familiar.
It's an inspired concept, and one of the staff members talks about is a clear amount of excitement. It views the Borg, not as a threat, but as a fact of life that has reunited the Federation beyond that. Sometimes monsters exist, but they don't live there, and they become part of us, instead. For better and for worse.
