And then it was time for Toronto to drown in the sweet grief of Clash At Demonhead again, but in the form of an anime. That’s right, Netflix is planning to develop a new adaptation of the cult classic comic and film Scott pilgrim against the world.
According to The Hollywood Reporter who broke the story, series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley will write and run the series on the side Are you afraid of the dark
Although the series doesn’t have to be officially ordered yet, it should work, Science SARU, the anime production studio behind it Devilman crybaby, The night is short, Walk On Girl
This is not the first time Scottish pilgrim received the animation treatment. In 2010, Adult Swim ran animated segments called Scott Pilgrim vs. The Animation during commercial breaks. Characters in the animation were voiced by the actors from Edgar Wright’s film. The act of Scott Pilgrim vs. The Animation took place during the first chapter of book two of the comic, where a high school student Scott starts a band Kim Pine and friend Lisa Miller, a character who didn’t make it into the final cut of the movie. Her omission was probably for the best because her plot point of having a crush on Scott would have been way too busy to juggle with too many cooks in the form of Ramona flower‘s evil exes.
Hopefully this will lead to anime adaptations of a work – like with The Arcane of League of Legends—will become more of a staple for Netflix in the future rather than the alternative: giving real estate the live-action treatment, as the streamer did with the hastily canceled one Cowboy bebop Series.
