When a new console comes out, getting one in the first year is often a hellish undertaking. So, with that Rumors about Switch 2 Potential buyers will be pleased to know that Nintendo reportedly wants to make sure that if you want a Switch successor, you can get one. Most new video game consoles experience supply issues in the first year or so, making the GameStops of the world drop a few hundred to get on the waiting list. However, the problem was particularly bad on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, both of which were known to have shortages for over two years
Accordingly Bloomberg Reporter Takashi MochizukiEntertainment display data based on supply chain forecasts (which refers to how physical retailers present certain products) suggests that Nintendo aims to produce more than 10 million units for the Switch 2’s first fiscal year on the market.
The question is: in what time frame should these 10 million units come to market? Nintendo’s fiscal year ends in March 2025, and at the moment we don’t know when the Switch 2 will launch – there are reports that it will hit stores sometime in the second half of 2024, but no confirmation from Nintendo Mario
Bloomberg‘S Report claims that the Switch 2 will launch with an 8-inch LCD screen, which will be cheaper to produce compared to the OLED Switch at the expense of vivid picture quality. This is slightly larger than the 6-inch display on a standard Switch console and an inch larger than the 7-inch screen on the standard Steam Deck. Even though the larger screen might be nice, first reports about the Switch 2 say the device won’t quite match the performance of the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. This is pretty typical of Nintendo consoles, however, as they tend to be less powerful but cheaper and have special features that set them apart from the competition, like the Wii’s motion controls or the Switch’s portability.
