A word of caution for trainers using it Pokémon Scarlet And VioletThe New Synchro Machine: You can also take down Shiny Pokemon with the nifty feature that lets you play as Pokémon. So if you’re interested in Shiny Hunt, take a closer look every time you decide to battle a wild Pokemon in this mode.
Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have released the second part of the DLC for Pokémon Scarlet And Violet, The Indigo Disc, on Thursday. This adventure sends players on a journey to Blueberry Academy. In addition to expanding the Pokédex and introducing a new area to explore, the DLC also offers a handful of useful features. One of them is called Synchro Machine and it basically allows trainers to play as their Pokémon friends. That is very sweet
When you play as your Pokémon, you can run around, explore, and even battle other wild Pokém on. The thing is, it doesn’t work like a normal fight. Instead of entering a turn-based battle, you press a button to battle another Pokémon, and then you attack as a Pokémon, ending the battle on the spot. It works very similarly to the battles in Let’s Go! feature, except that you have to initiate every fight. So while your Pokemon won’t automatically fight and defeat a Shiny in this mode, you won’t be able to catch a Shiny if you fight one. (If you use “Let’s Go!” to auto-battle, the game will prevent your Pokémon from attacking a Shiny.)
Polygon was unable to conduct a Shiny Hunt ourselves while we used the feature to confirm that we could use it to defeat a Shiny Pokémon. However, we saw it several documented cases online
It’s nothing to worry about, but it’s good to keep in mind. You can leave the Synchro Machine at any time and fight as a trainer to catch a Shiny when you see one. If you’re using the Synchro Machine, just keep your eyes open and maybe take another look if you’re in the middle of fighting a strange looking guy.
