Outlast Trials is not a direct sequence of Outlast and Outlast 2, Says the Red Barrels. In other words, it's not Outlast 3, respectively the developer said it would eventually do. Outlast Trials is part of the same myth, however, set only in the “Cold War era.” Players will obviously play the role of experimental subjects involved in anonymous experiments.

Outlast Trials is in the "early stages of production," according to the official announcement, with more reliable details coming soon. Red Barrels did not reveal any platforms or release date.
