If you have ever played VR and climbed into your bed while in the middle of a zombie wasteland, you know that it feels weird. It breaks your brain and temporarily weakens the illusion. But what if everything in VR is like a real world thing and you basically & # 39; feel & # 39; a game you've been playing? This is what a person has done and it looks bad.
Greg Madison She has been a witch before and is currently a composer at Spatial Computing. She recently uploaded a video of herself exploring a place to live on YouTube. But this level of VR is based on his actual living space, down to every room, bed, and counter.
It took him over 22 hours to create a model in his apartment using a calibration system SketchUp. The model he created was very accurate, which took a lot of work. "The most time consuming part of the 22 hours has been to take measurements, to get 2mm accuracy," said Madison. After balancing his puzzle, he then moved it to Unity and was able to scan it into VR.
The result of all this hard work and time is something that Madison says is hard to expla in to those who haven't seen it. He also described the feeling of moving around in a VR space that fits perfectly with your virtual reality environment as "amazing."
"It's like living the dream of waking up when you see everything … when everything is possible."
It seems to have impressed many people. The video was shared on Reddit where it is currently gone 80k increase.
The real purpose of this VR apartment is not just to have fun with him, but he plans to use this space in the future to explore other ideas he has for using virtual space in VR applications. You can see some of these shows in his video. At one point he hit his couch in the VR world and that matched his real world bed. Tapping this virtual button positioned on a virtual reality device creates a floating TV screen in VR, enabling him to watch YouTube.
“I want to encourage developers and designers, to think outside the box and push boundaries with implementation; and the boundaries you can reach, ”explains Madison. He sees this kind of VR tech and usage as one part of a bigger and better future. He wants VR companies to better support these types of creations, making it easier for people to create things like this automatically.
"There are a lot of creators out there, waiting for this, to push these platforms to the next level."
