Every Pokémon is interesting and worth talking about. I don’t play a lot Pokémon, but I enjoy the universe and love learning more about the creatures in it. So, here’s another Pokémon! It’s Swampert!
Swampert details
Type: Beetle / Electric
Average Height: 4’11 “
Average weight: 180.6 pounds.
First introduced in Generation III
Swampert might look like a big, strong, lumbering creature. But no! It’s fast. How fast? Well it’s faster than a jet ski. I heard recently that these things are amazing and combine form and function into one perfect machine. You could even say they are ingenious…
Did I pick this Pokémon just because it referred to a jet ski, which is mentioned on a popular and ongoing TV show? May be. But there’s more to this post, I swear. For example, according to Bulbapedia, Swampert can accurately predict the weather. It does this by sensing subtle changes in the sounds of waves and winds with its fins. When it senses a big storm, it builds a large fortress out of heavy rocks to protect itself and its nest.
You think we’re all too obsessed with the jet ski part in Loki and it’s not going to pay off? That seems possible. I hope not. I would love to see Owen Wilson ride a beautiful jet ski into the sunset. He deserves it.

Oh, Swampert, well, uh … it has really good vision too. It can see through the mudliest and most murky waters. Which is useful when you are riding a jet ski driven by Owen Wilson … ah shit. I’m stuck thinking about the Loki show again. Let’s just move on, shall we?
Random facts
- Swampert is strong and can lift a ton of stones with ease. It uses this ability to build storm shelters and also (likely) to impress people. Or intimidate them.
- One Pokedex entry stated that Swampert could haul a large ship around, which appears to be a huge step up from the ability to lift a rock weighing a ton.
- I’m starting to suspect that these Pokedex entries are inconsistently accurate. Just a theory.
