Last month, Ubisoft has decided to end online support for a number of older games, but also the DRM servers for Might and Magic X – Legacy, Importance Players were unable to access the game’s single player content or DLC.
How Eurogamer report Fans weren’t happy that they had to cobble together an unofficial workaround to continue playing beyond a certain point in single player, but instead of using Ubisoft to take the weeks in between to release something official to fix this, or their original move to Shutting down to undo the game’s DRM servers, they’ve decided to do something else.
They simply removed the game for sale on Steam. Now when you visit the game’s Steam page you will be greeted with the message:
Note: At the request of the publisher, Might & Magic X – Legacy is no longer available on Steam.
Now, potential new players can’t get the game, and anyone else with a copy in place … still can’t play it properly as even with the fan-made workaround, the game’s bonus content remains inaccessible.
Players are understandable now drunkby going to the game’s Steam Reviews to leave messages like:
“No longer works. Ubisoft refuses to fix the game. Pathetic. “
“Ubisoft took my money and then closed it.”
“This is theft, and if Steam and the relevant governments agree, it’s legal theft. As a matter of principle, I will never buy anything from Ubisoft again, even if they decide to do something about this mess. “
G / O Media can receive a commission
“Unfortunately Ubisoft has decided to sell the game and it is impossible to access a substantial part anymore, so I cannot recommend buying it. F *** this company with a pineapple for mistreating the Might and Magic franchise. “
And
“Ubisoft can fuck itself.”
The game has has also been removed from Ubisoft’s own shopfront.
