Your friend neighborhood Spider-ManThe new Spider-Man animation series from Disney Plus takes many creative freedom with Peter Parker's background story. On the one hand, his spider powers came from a mysterious binding spider that appeared from a portal that was conjured up by Doctor Strange. On the other hand, his high school BFF is none other than Goth Queen Nico Minoru. And although this version of Peter Park is slightly MCU side by side, Peter has a super rich mentorf figure to finance his spider activities instead of Tony Stark, Norman Osborn.
With all these changes to Peters history, there are really opportunities for everything, and I have a great theory that could might shake the basics of Spider-Man history: I don't think uncle Ben is dead.
Hear me out! Unlike in the typical version of Peters history from comics and various film adaptations, Uncle Ben is absent before Peter is bitten by the spider. Even in the first two episodes, actually nobody says Uncle Ben is dead. May and Peter only talk about how he is “not nearby”. This makes me believe that there is a certain reason why the show runners have decided not to expressly say that he is dead.
We have seen Uncle Ben, many, many, many times in films and television programs, and it is always special so that Peter clever and can recognize that he has to use his strength forever. We don't necessarily have to see that this story is playing again, but it is harmful that he is already in front of the spider from May and Peters. It's just more Jarring, if everyone somehow talkes about what happened to him. I understand that it would be Klobig to go for Peter, “man when Uncle Ben was shot by this Mugger last year, things were rough for me and my aunt”, but also every mention of Ben seems to be deliberately ambiguous.
So what happened to Ben? Did he go in May? Does he have a secret family in the suburbs in New Jersey, with which he decided to live full -time? Or was he kidnapped or disappeared in a surviving incident? Was it recruited by Shield to go deeply hidden? Or is he in prison? Or did he get a job that moved him to another district, and now he can no longer make his way to see his wife and nephew, because damn it, they know how annoying it is, about Brooklyn public transport to get to Queens?
We are only two episodes on the show, but I leave the indefinence of uncle Ben and, after further mentions, which confirm or deny my theory.
