If you have a Nintendo account, now's a good time to make sure you set up 2-step verification for that account to keep it secure.
Nintendo enables 2-step verification to opt out of its accounts but recently launched a small social media campaign that encourages users to sign in.
This weekend dozens of Nintendo switchch owners posted about third-party logos it happened on their accounts, another resulting in a loss of money, Nintendo Life reports. Nintendo also recently issued a warning to account holders in Japan citing the increase in credit card fraud with Nintendo accounts.
My account was reached by someone in Thailand at the end of March. Although luckily I was able to capture and change my password before any further damage was done, my secure password was certainly not secure enough, and I'm ashamed that I wasn't set up two steps before unauthorized logging.
To set up 2-step verification for your account, go to the Nintendo website and log into your account.
After that, go to "Login and Security Settings" and then go to "2-Step Verification" and click "Edit."
While some apps use your phone number for 2-step services, Nintendo allows 2-step verification with Authenticator app.
When you click on set up “2-step verification” on the Nintendo site you will be sent an email with instructions on how to complete the verification process using Google Authenticator – which should also work on it. either third party your favorite app
As part of this process, you will be provided with some codes to use as backup if you need to access your account and feel uncomfortable with the app. Make sure you keep those in a safe place where you can access them if needed.
