“This photo mode is a great way to allow our players to get creative using Deathloop’s unique art and levels,” says Producer Jeremy Leulier. “The only creative limits are set by the imagination of our players. We at Arkane are very excited to see how well players will delve into all the different options and what they will come up with.
Besides being able to select your filters and angles like a photography pro, you can switch between Colt and Julianna, change your outfits and weapons (including specific weapon variation and skin) and fall into more a dozen poses worth sharing. .
“One of our biggest challenges was adapting Photo Mode for a first-person shooter where your character isn’t displayed apart from hands and weapons,” says Leulier. “We wanted to provide the best possible experience for this mode and took the time to test it thoroughly and even asked expert gamers for advice on using different photo modes in games. test photo mode we have added many relevant options for the player to make it even more fun and fun to use.
“Every time we release a game, photo mode is one of the most requested features by players,” adds studio head Dinga Bakaba. “Seeing how virtual photographers have been able to take amazing photos in our worlds without them, we couldn’t be more excited to empower the entire community with these tools.”
Accessibility features
“We are truly grateful to the players and allied community who gave us so much feedback when Deathloop was released,” says Yoann Bazoge, Lead UI/UX Designer. “We took the time to read all the accessibility reviews and watch videos from players explaining why they couldn’t play Deathloop. We then worked on a document listing all the feedback and put together a roadmap of this what would be the additions for Game Update 3.”
Game Update 3 introduces over 30 additional accessibility improvements and options, from menu navigation improvements and interface options to a host of new gameplay options. The update also adds a category Dedicated accessibility, which can be found in the options menu. This new menu summarizes the existing options as well as many new options available with this update, including:
- New game settings that allow players to further customize single-player combat (most not available for online or friend modes). This includes increasing or decreasing combat difficulty, adjusting the number of replays, and slowing game speed.
- New HUD and subtitle options, such as customizing the size, opacity and color of various text and graphic elements
- Easier menu navigation, allowing the use of directional buttons on the controller to navigate up and down menu lists. Cursor speed can also be adjusted in settings to make it easier to navigate settings with a controller.
“One of the things we didn’t expect when we started accessibility features is how useful and fun some of these options can be for everyone,” Bakaba says. “My favorites are slow motion, which allows anyone to create an otherwise nearly impossible chain of actions, and Reprise count, which allows you to experiment inconsequentially with the infinite setting. On the contrary, you can use the retake count to make the game more difficult by disabling replays altogether.
“Accessibility in games is a complex subject,” says Bazoge. “We estimate that over 400 million gamers need additional support to play. It is a lot of people who may feel left out without some of these options. When we started talking about it with our teams, people were very motivated by the idea of developing all of this.
