The details of Elden Ring are starting to appear everywhere, however, the main source for now is an interview with the director of the game. and Famitsu. The medium, like the director Hidetaka Miyazaki, is Japanese, so most of the translations were still done with Google Translate and other tools that are not entirely accurate.
That is why the details are somewhat scarce and even acquire the tinge of rumor, especially if we add to the context that Miyazaki speaks with mystery and information is kept, just like the story in his games. For example, in Famitsu he was asked about how we can join other players’ games, something that happens in previous installments of the study.
Missing details
Miyazaki then replied that multiplayer is available anywhere on the map and that we can explore freely with up to 3 players in addition to our own, that is, the sessions are for four people. However, he later added that players should know that it is not possible to play with someone else at the same time as “riding.”
The phrase has been debated, especially in English forums where it is translated as “ride.” Apparently Miyazaki is referring to riding a horse, a new mechanic in his games and then it would not be possible to ride a horse at the same time as playing with someone else, which is a bit disappointing considering that the ghostly horse is the great novelty.
On the other hand, in the same interview he revealed that players join lobbies with keywords when playing and that then there are greater chances of getting players who have joined the same lobby. The keywords will be important and the director did not reveal any, but the word that defines the lobby is what will determine what type of players we find.
Infinite groups
The same for blood marks and ghostly appearances, we will only see the messages of those who are in the same lobby and it is worth noting that these lobbies will not have a player limit.
Finally, it should be noted that in the trailer it is clearly seen as a character invokes another with a blue object, so it seems that the way to invoke friends will not be very different from what we already know.
Elden Ring will launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and PC on January 21, 2021.
