James Gunn breaks the silence on recent rumors of an alleged crossover movie between DC and Marvel, starring Groot and Harley Quinn. The director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘The Suicide Squad’ is in a “privileged” position but we should not get excited.
For those of you who think we’ve gone nuts, you certainly don’t know that in the comics both Marvel and DC have crossed paths at events even bigger than the Arrowverse. However, on screen we have not yet been able to see any of this.
Last month, Gunn revealed a post on Twitter in which he claimed that he had spoken with both Marvel and DC about making a crossover film between ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Suicide Squad’. However, the director also assured that this was unlikely, but not impossible.
Reports revealed that Gunn’s intention was to unite Groot and Harley Quinn in a single production, but until now, the filmmaker had not released any information about those rumors.
In his new tweet, Gunn revealed that while he did meet with Marvel and DC to discuss a potential crossover, no characters came out in the conversation. Yes, he mentioned Groot and Harley Quinn in his talk with Kevin Feige, but they would not be the basis of the film.
We are sure that a film of Harley Quinn and Groot together would be a complete success. Obviously, we do not know the plot of the production, but they are both of the most popular and beloved characters in their universes, so it would be a movie that the fans would appreciate.
Now that the chances of that happening are almost nil, we can only keep waiting for the arrival of ‘The Suicide Squad’ now in August, and for the production of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ to begin. However, we wonder: what other film of the Marvel and DC crossover could be in the works? Leave us your theories in the comments.
